Ready to Adopt for the Holidays?

The goal of the Village of Hope program is to focus on making the holidays better for kids in the Seacoast community that need our help most. The ages of the kids range from 0-18 and all their needs will be different. All of the children randomly chosen for the program will have specific requests and those will be listed on the adoption cards on our Facebook group. While we don’t limit the amount of gifts you can or should provide a child or family that you adopt, we do encourage our donors to focus on 4 key areas: Want, Need, Wear, and Read.

What is a Want?

A want is a gift that a child requests such as a toy. This category is based on the child’s current interest and will be provided by the families. This could be something such as dinosaurs, dolls, toy trucks or video games. The type of toy is provided by the families and then you can then find the perfect gift to surprise your adopted child.

What is a Need?

A need is a something that is requested by the adopted family for the child. This could include anything from diapers to sports equipment such as a new soccer ball; or even a new backpack for school. These items tend to be a more specific request and will be requested on your child’s adoption card.

What is a Wear?

A wear is an item of clothing the child needs. This could be a winter jacket, snow boots, or even gloves and hat to get them through the cold New England winters. The child’s size and other information will be provided to you. If you’d like to donate the wear items in advance of your other items so that the child can use it right away, that is an option too!

What is a read?

A read is an education item for the child. This can be a book with their favorite characters, an interactive book, or even a coloring and activity book to keep the child engaged in learning.

Prior to drop off, it is required that you send one or two pictures of each gift to your moderator. Please include the family number and child’s age on your emails or Facebook messages to us with the photos. Once that’s all set, we are ready to deliver your donations.

If you are planning to deliver your gifs directly, please contact your assigned moderator to arrange your drop off for your adopted child or family.

You can also drop your gifts off at one of the locations listed below. For location drop off, please consolidate your donations into bags that are separated out by child and be sure that the family number and child’s age is clearly marked on the package. This will help us make sure your gifts stay together for each child and will allow us to expedite delivery to the families.

Check out this post on our adopter Facebook group to get inspiration on how to easily deliver your unwrapped gifts, while still keep that fun holiday spirit! Please note, the bag containing the gifts does not need to be fancy. As long as the gifts for each child are together and the packages are clearly marked, you are good to go!
